One of the famous German-Pakistani personalities, Doctor Ruth Pfau passed away Thursday morning at the age of 87 in Karachi.
Dr. Ruth Pfau, the founder of National Leprosy Control Programme, passed away today at 4 am. Her final funeral prayers will be held on August 19 at St Patrick’s Cathedral and will be laid to rest in Chrisitan Cemetry.
The 87-year old was admitted to Agha Khan hospital on Wednesday suffering from a critical condition where she gave her final breaths.
Doctor Ruth Pfau was an angel to a lot of Pakistanis. She was a German national and dedicated her whole life treating Pakistanis. She founded Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center in Karachi.
She had been living in Pakistan since 1960 and settled here when she was just 29-years old.
After witnessing the critical condition of leprosy patients in Pakistan, she decided to stay here and help them out.
She was a German Nun and a member Society Of Daughters of Heart of Mary and devoted her whole life-fighting leprosy in Pakistan.
Doctor Ruth Pfau was surely an angel sent by God to help the Pakistanis suffering from leprosy.
