Irma Swallows Eight Lives On Caribbean Island Of Saint Martin

On Thursday, Hurricane Irma killed eight people on the Carribean island of Saint Martin and left Barbuda catastrophic as one of the most powerful storms in the entire century.

Video footage of Saint Martin showed a destructed marina with boats tossed into piles, flooded homes, and submerged streets.

Electricity flow was also cut out as result of Hurricane in Perto Reco, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthelemy.

Daniel Gibbs, Chairman of local Council in Saint Martin spoke to Radio Carribean International, ‘It’s an enormous disaster, 95% of the island is destroyed.’

French Interior Minister told media about the death of eight people as Hurricane struck the island.

‘We didn’t have time yet to explore all the shores,’ Gerard Collomb French Minister France Info Radio.

The Dutch Royal Navy also released a media statement saying Irma caused ‘enormous damage’ on the Dutch side of Saint Martin.

The Navy tweeted images taken from Helicopter showing damaged houses, hotels, submerged streets and devastated property. The airport was also unfunctional.

The Hurricane was on its way to reach Florida on Saturday becoming the second largest Hurricane in the history of United States after Hurricane Harvey.

Irma didn’t show sympathy for Barbuda either. The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda said they are seeking international assistance because of the damages caused by Irma.
