Two people have lost their lives until now with six others injured as a result of stabbing in Turku, a city of Finland: Police.
Police told the media, they have shot the suspect who was stabbing people in Turku.
He has been taken into custody after being shot in the leg, police.
According to the reports, the incident took place in Puutori Market, the center of the city. Police have warned people that other suspects might be on the run.
Petri Virolainen, director Turku University Hospital told media that eight people were brought with injuries and one died.
‘Several people stabbed in central Turku. People are requested to avoid the city center,’ South-West Finland police tweeted at 16:40 local time.
The reports said that police were investigating close-by buildings and hotels for possible suspects at the run. The incoming vehicles and other transport were also being thoroughly checked.
An eyewitness said, ‘I saw police shoot a person, a man I think. People were running and there was a talk about a knife attack, possibly multiple preparators.’
Another tweet by Turku police read, ‘The police are searching for possibly more preparators in Turku.’
Finland’s Prime Minister Juha Sipila said his government is monitoring the situation very closely. The interior minister and national police commissioner are also arriving the victim city.
